ECMO is Extra corporeal Membrane Oxygenator. This machine oxygenates the blood. here the blood is taken form the patient through tubing and cannula, oxygenated and given back .it has its own oxygenaor and pump.this can be connected to patient and kept for 2-4 wks. helps in oxygenation of blod when the lung has failed and gives time for the lung to recover
