The Department of Pharmaceutics is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories, sophisticated instruments and competitive staff. The department has two MPharm specializations (Pharmaceutics and Industrial Pharmacy). The focused research areas are: i) Preformulation studies, ii) Development of different dosage forms, iii) Evaluation of dosage forms for various in vitro and in vivo parameters and iv) Studying biopharmaceutical and pharmacokinetic aspects. Core research competencies are: Multi-particulate systems, sustained/immediate release systems, ocular drug delivery systems, transdermal systems, implants, semisolids, dental preparations, microspheres, nanopharmaceuticals (nanoparticles, liposomes, SLNs, NLCs, dendrimers, etc). Centre for Drug Delivery Technologies established under this department is equipped with cutting-edge Twin Screw Processor of Steer Engineering, Bangalore. The department has received enormous funding for research projects from various agencies like DST, DBT, AICTE, ICMR, BIRAC, VGST and many pharmaceutical companies. The department has marked its importance in research in terms of many publications in top journals and 8 patents. It has set up research collaborations with several institutes, universities and companies.
