This department is engaged in teaching as well as radiobiological and toxicological research activities. The main objectives are to study the fundamental mechanisms of radiation response of normal and cancer cells using cellular and molecular tools. In view of this, the department is undertaking multi-disciplinary research programs in experimental oncology, DNA damage and repair, radiation biodosimetry, radiation modulation, development of predictive markers for radiosensitivity analysis,  toxicological aspects of environmental pollutants (heavy metal & nanoparticles) and targeted anticancer drug delivery (liposomal and nano based).
