Research at KMC, Mangalore, the flagship college of MAHE, encompasses Clinical and Basic research, Student projects and Clinical/ Industrial trials with emphasis on ethics, integrity, objectivity, and accountability.

The huge body of clinical material at the government hospitals gives both breadth and depth to the clinical research. The thrust is on collaborative research in the areas of infectious diseases including malaria, HIV, and tuberculosis, non-communicable diseases, community health, phytochemical research, biosignal analysis, advanced diagnostic research like FISH and neurophysiology. The faculty is recipients of extramural grants from various Indian and foreign bodies and research has resulted in quality publications and valuable patents.

Leadership and mentoring activities are regularly conducted to foster the spirit of research among students and young faculty by the Faculty Research Forum and the Manipal University Student Research Forum under the guidance of the Dean and Research Director. The institution aims to build on its expertise and attract experts to call on us, collaborate, and contribute to making research more socially and scientifically rewarding
