A compact quad band slot antenna for WLAN/WiMAX/X-band applications

Abstract

A slotted multiband planar antenna for WLAN/WiMAX/X-band is reported. The antenna consists of an annular slot in the radiating patch and E-shaped slot in the ground plane. Multiband operation at 2.4, 3.2, 5.84 and 9.96GHz is accomplished by utilizing E-shaped slot, while the impedance matching at the resonance is controlled by annular slot. The proposed structure has a compact dimension of 0.14λl × 0.14λl × 0.01λl at lower frequency of 2.4GHz. The antenna has S11<-10dB bandwidth of 4.6%, 3.02%, 2.73% and 15.7% with frequency ranging from 2.3-2.4GHz, 3.18-3.2GHz, 5.6-6.01GHz and 8.8-10.41GHz, respectively.
