Centralized controller tuning for MIMO process with time delay

Abstract

An attempt has been made to design a decoupling controller for system with more inputs and more outputs with dead time in it. The process of distillation column is explained briefly. The decoupler is designed for the 3×3 distillation column. It is shown that smith predictor incorporation in the decoupling structure to implement the method of absolute decoupling for distillation processes. The developed decoupling control was simulated using MATLAB/Simulink. Also, the stability of the process is analysed, together with the presence of various perturbations in it. The time domain specifications like setting time along with overshoot and oscillations are analysed to prove the efficiency of the de-coupler method. The load disturbance rejection is tested along with its performance. Finally, the servo and regulatory response of the system is shown with the simulation results. The real time implementation of the process is under process in our laboratory.
