Abstract

Image compression techniques exploit a common characteristic of most of the images that the neighbouring picture elements are highly correlated. The rasterized images which are the compound images are the bitmaps containing mix of text, graphics and natural image. The strong anisotropic features are detected on the text and graphics parts of such images which is the root cause of inefficiency in conventional compression techniques. In this paper, we have done the better exploitation of the spatial correlation of the test image and the image compression is made efficient.
