Controlled Modification Of Structure Of Some Manganites Using Electron Beam Irradiation For Sensor Applications

Abstract

In the present work we have studied the effect of 8 MeV electron beam irradiation on the structural and electrical properties of LaMnO3. Samples were prepared using the conventional solid state technique. Samples were irradiated with different doses ranging from 5 to 15 kGray. To examine the purity of the samples, X-ray Diffraction technique was used. The XRD studies show that all the compounds are single phased. Further it is seen that irradiation also changes the structure of the compounds. The conventional four probe method was used to carry out electrical resistivity in the temperature range of 10-300K. The electrical resistivity data shows a positive effect on transition temperature.
