Cuk Converter as an Efficient Driver for LED

Abstract

Design of LED driver is very critical in lighting industry. They protect the LED from voltage and current fluctuations. In the present work a simulation based study was carried out to obtain a mathematical model and a steady state model of a Cuk converter using MATLAB R2018A. A mathematical model was developed to study the transient and steady state voltage and current characteristics. A closed loop control of the Cuk converter was also developed to provide constant voltage at the output irrespective of the variation in the output parameters. A PI controller with appropriate tuning of Kp and Ki was developed to provide PWM pulses to switches based on the output voltage variation.
