Cutting of glass using low pressure abrasive water suspension jet with the addition of zycoprint polymer

Abstract

This paper introduces a new water soluble polymer called ZYCOPRINT that can be used for the preparation of abrasive water suspension mixture. The optimum mix of suspension parameters such as polymer concentration, abrasive concentration, abrasive size and abrasive type has been found at which a stable suspension is formed. The effect of suspension parameters on the depth of cut of glass has also been investigated through cutting experiments. It has been observed from the results that ZYCOPRINT is a viable polymer additive, for stable suspension and ease of preparation. The cutting results show that the concentration of ZYCOPRINT polymer and type of abrasives have major affect on the depth of cut.
