Abstract
The free volume related microstructural properties of sodium alginate/lithium perchlorate solid polyelectrolyte have been studied using Positron Annihilation spectroscopy (PALS), conductivity techniques. PALS studies reveal that the o-free volume size and its number density vary with LiClO 4 doping level. This study indicates that the doping modified the free volume related microstructure and enhances the amorphous nature of the film due to the complete dissolution of LiClO4 in NaAlg. From the conductivity studies it is clear that the ionic conductivity increases with doping level and its variation is understood based on ionic mobility due to segmental as well as Cohen-Turnbull model of the free volume dependent ionic transport.
