N2 - Fossil fuels and associated non-conventional resources are on a brink of exhaustion and the topic of focus is now being significantly increased on renewable sources. With the emergence of power electronics and optimization techniques, renewable energy based grids and EV's are a trending area. Microgrid is an area of such research where different renewable energy sources are implemented to satisfy the necessary load power demands. Grid connected hybrid microgrid is another major subset of microgrid where the utility grid is present along with renewables and power balance is maintained between the grids and renewable energy sources. EV's act as mobile energy storage components as well as permit movement without adding to the pollution index. Several studies have been carried out on implementing EV's into the microgrid and their effect on the power grid. When dealing with DER's, uncertainty is a major variable to be focused on and the incorporation of EV's increases this factor twice fold. This paper reviews the various studies on the grid connected hybrid microgrid along with several optimization techniques, grids incorporating EV's and the various uncertainties considered when tackling these issues.
