Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) - Resistant acute osteomyelitis

Abstract

Osteomyelitis is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in children. Among children, osteomyelitis is Predominantly hematogenous and is acute in nature with Staphylococcus aureus being the main causative agent. Due to the development of community- Associated methicillin-resistant S. aureus, both the epidemiology and Pathogenesis of S. aureus infections, including osteomyelitis, have changed in current years. Authors found a case of 3 year old male child with pain in right leg, inability to bear weight, MR1 of the right leg and pathological examination of the bone tissue showed features suggestive of acute osteomyelitis, MRSA infection was revealed °n culture examination and antibiotic sensitivity testing. Surgical drainage of the abscess was done followed by antybiotics after diagnosis.
