Abstract
A new material, which is formed by the interaction of guanine in aqueous solution with oxygen and UV radiation, of which indications were found in an earlier work, was isolated, partially, characterized and compared with guanine using X-ray diffraction, IR, absorption and fluorescence spectroscopies. These and other studies suggest that the material is polymeric in nature.
