Study on seismic performance of multi-storey rc frame with different structural system using response spectrum method

Abstract

Now a days tall building construction has become a fashion. Tall structures are those whose height is more prominent as compared to other parameters. As the height of the structure increases the effect of lateral loads like earthquake and wind loads also increases, making the structures unstable and people feel uncomfortable to live in these structures. In this Paper, detailed study of seven different structural systems are carried out (i,e Beam Column, Core Shear Wall, Periphery Shear wall, Outrigger, Outrigger with Belt Truss, Conventional Brick Infill, ALC Block Infill Systems). The objective of the paper is to find optimum Structural System. All Seven types of Structural systems are modeled in ETABS for 40 storey and these models are analyzed for seismic loads. Finally, a comparative study is carried out for the seven structural systems in terms of displacement, storey drift & base shear force, to get the optimum structural system.
