Synthesis and biological activity of Mannich bases of certain 1,2-pyrazolines

Abstract

The hydroxy pyrazolines were reacted with sulfa drugs and other compounds of biological interest containing free amino group in presence of formaldehyde when Mannich bases of 1,2-pyrazolines IIa-I were obtained. The compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, UV,IR and NMR spectral studies. All the newly synthesized compounds have been screened for antimicrobial activity and few compounds for antiinflammatory activity. Compound IIk exhibited significant edema inhibiting activity.
