Abstract

A compact (16 × 24 mm2 = 0. 35λ0 × 0. 80λ0, where λ0 is the wavelength at the resonance frequency of 7.5 GHz) high gain wideband antenna operating from 6.9-8.2 GHz is presented. The antenna structure consists of a U-shaped radiating monopole with truncated ground plane. The time domain characteristics, such as, group delay, phase response and isolation characteristics of the proposed wideband antenna for both face to face and side to side conditions are discussed in detail. The antenna has stable radiation performances, good impedance matching, high gain and accepted time domain characteristics over the entire operating bandwidth.
