Abstract

Precise measurement of flow is essential in industries to meet the working demand of multiple process parameters. Precise measurement can be achieved only with an accurate sensor. Orifice is one widely used flow sensor in industries, thus making it important to understand the performance characteristics of the orifice. This paper attempts to evaluate the characteristics of orifice flowmeter under varying environments through experimental setup and simulation tools. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is used to design and analyze the performance of the flowmeter for the variation of sensor dimension. Transient analysis is performed and the results obtained are used for generation of mathematical model for estimation of differential pressure for different beta ratio's..
