Abstract

The wastewater containing residues of dyes and chemicals requires good treatment before releasing into the environment. Most of these dyes are resistant to biological and physical treatment methods. So for the treatment of these dyes and chemicals, photo-catalyzed degradation is considered as the efficient treatment technology. In the present study we performed a laboratory experiment to synthesise the photo catalyst Co3O4 using co-precipitation method and to investigate photo catalytic degradation of wastewater by using Co3O4. The photo catalyst characteristics were analyzed using XRD,SEM and particle size analyzer. From the results it is concluded that synthesise of Co3O4 is possible with co-precipitation method and the photo catalytic degradation of wastewater completed within 120 minutes.
