Voltage-mode Digital Controller for a Fifth-Order Zero-Voltage Transition Boost Converter

Abstract

A voltage-mode digital controller design for a fifth-order Zero-Voltage Transition boost converter (FOZVTBC) is presented in this paper. Initially, basic principles of circuit theory are utilized for analyzing the switching characteristics of the converter. The analysis reveals that there are seven intervals of operation in a switching cycle and also the switching devices experiences soft-switching phenomenon particularly Zero-Voltage Transition. System identification toolbox of MATLAB is employed in designing the digital controller by generating the control to output transfer function. A 12-36V, 25W converter is simulated through PSIM software to verify its switching performance and controller design.
